I. Teaching Aims and Demands:

Language Goals:

Review and grasp how to make telephone calls and write messages

Learn the usage of Reflexive Pronouns.

Learn and grasp some useful Reflexive Pronouns phrases.

Ability Goals:

1. Learn how to keep healthy.

2. Cultivate the ability of reading and try to get the information you need by some easy skills according to the purpose of reading.

1. Learn to be helpful to others.

2. Learn to study in groups, communicate with others in English and cooperate in groups.

II. Teaching Important Points:

Learn the usage of Reflexive Pronouns and the useful expressions of Reflexive Pronouns phrases.

2. Review and learn the following useful expressions:

enjoy oneself, hurt oneself, help oneself to… ,look after oneself, teach oneself, learn sth. by oneself , take an active part in, care for, It’s one’s duty to do sth.

III. Teaching Difficult Points:

1. Help the students make differences between the Reflexive Pronouns, learn to use them correctly and pay attention to the plural forms.

Learn to get important information by reading with some skills.

IV. Teaching Methods:

1. Lead in with the help of pictures, slide shows, multimedia and so on.

2. Create an English-speaking environment-------Role play.

3. Project-based cooperative learning methods.

V. Teaching Aids:

Word cards, pictures, a tape recorder, a computer, screen, multimedia.

VI. Teaching procedure:

Step 1  Review

1. Review some new words with cards. (包括本课预习导纲中的词汇部分)

2. Review how to make a telephone call and write the message. Show the Ss a picture of planting trees and the telephone message . Ask them to make a dialogue according to them.

Or:

Ask two pairs to act the dialogues out and the others finish the message.

1. T: Today we’re going to learn Unit 2 Topic 3 Section C. At first, let’s review and learn Reflexive Pronouns.

 (Show the students some slide shows and lead in the usage of Reflexive Pronouns)

T: Could she ride a bike when she was seven years old?

T: Yes, she could.

T: Who taught her? No one taught her. Can you guess?

T and Ss: She taught herself.

(教师板书she -------herself)

T: What’s he doing?

Ss: He’s swimming.

T: Is he enjoying himself?...

(教师板书he-------himself )

T: Look at this cat. Is it enjoying itself?

Ss: Yes, it is. It is enjoying itself.

(教师板书it — itself。)

T: Look, What did they do?

Ss: They had a birthday party.

T: Did they enjoy themselves?

(教师板书they--------themselves)

T: Excuse me, could you play computer games two years ago?

S2: Yes, I could.

T: Who taught you?

S2: I taught myself.

(教师板书I---------myself )

T: Did you watch TV during the summer holidays?

S3: Yes, I did.

T: Did you enjoy your self?...

(教师板书you -------yourself )

T: Can you brush your teeth?

S₄ and S₅: Yes, we can.

T: Who taught you?

S4and S₅: We taught ourselves.

T: Oh, you learned to brush teeth by yourselves, right?

T: All these are Reflexive Pronouns, we can call them “oneself”.  Read together.

Reflexive Pronouns

Please look carefully and try to find out their regularity. Pay attention to their singular and plural forms. Who can talk about their regularity?  (Make a summary)

总结: 第一、二人称反身代词构造：形容词性物主代词+self/selves

      第三人称反身代词构造：宾格+self/selves

复数形式：self -----→ selves新课标第一网

2. T: Now, let’s learn some other phrases with Reflexive Pronouns.

(Show them some slide shows)

T: Look. What’s wrong with Kangkang?

Ss: He fell down.

T: Did he hurt himself? …

T: What’s she doing?... she is teaching herself. She is learning by herself.

T: His mother wasn’t at home. She left him at home by himself. He had to… look after himself. When you say goodbye to your friends, you can also say to him or her: Take care of yourself.

T: Look, so much food and drinks. Do they look delicious? Would you like to have some? Help yourselves to them. OK, we should learn how to use the Reflexive Pronouns. Let’s summarize the phrases. Together…Please don’t let me only say to myself.

teach oneself 自学,  learn…by oneself自学, by oneself 独自,亲自leave one by oneself  把某人单独留下enjoy oneself  玩得开心

hurt oneself伤了自己 help oneself(to…)请随便吃…, look after oneself照顾自己, take care of oneself照顾自己,保重…say to oneself自言自语

Step3  Consolidation

1. Check the homework.. (见本课预习导纲中的反身代词部分)

2. Please look at the picture in Page46 (part3)and complete the passage with Reflexive Pronouns .Then check the answers.

Step4  Presentation

1. Let the Ss read 1a quickly and find out the topic sentence of each paragraph. Check the answers.

2. Listen to 1a and follow it. Then find out something difficult, and solve then with teacher together.

Step5  Consolidation

1. Let the Ss read 1a carefully and fill in the table (见本课预习导纲). Then check the answers.

2.T: There are lots of ways to keep fit. How many ways do you know to keep fit?

  Divide the class into four groups: Group Eating Habits, Group Sports, Group keeping Happy, Group Bad Habits, and let then tell the class how to keep fit. The group who gives the most sentences will win.

3. Retell 1a one by one. (可以借助本课预习导纲中表格的内容)

Step6  Practice

1. Listen to 2a and read after it. Master the new word “dangerous” and know about “SARS”.

2. Let the Ss find out something difficult in 2a, and solve then with teacher together.

3.Make similar conversations according to 2a, and then act them out. Finish 2b.

Step7  Project

1. T: What do you learn from Dr. Li’s talk about health? What’s your opinions on health? Write an article to talk about your idea.

2. Collect information about SARS for the next class.

Step8 Sum up

1. The key points in this lesson.

2. The competition result.

Step9  Homework

1. Review and make sentences with the Reflexive Pronouns and phrases.

2. Try to retell 1a.

3. Finish the written task.
